Vet News: DoD Announces Recruiting and Retention Numbers for Fiscal Year-to-Date 2011, Through July

Active Component.

• Recruiting - Year to Date. All four active services met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal year-to-date 2011, through July.

o Army – 55,131 accessions, with a goal of 54,200; 102 percent

o Navy – 28,032 accessions, with a goal of 28,032; 100 percent

o Marine Corps – 21,873 accessions, with a goal of 21,835; 100 percent

o Air Force – 23,210 accessions, with a goal of 23,210; 100 percent

• Retention. The services are on track to meet their fiscal year-to-date 2011 retention goals.

Reserve Component.

• Recruiting. Five of the six reserve components met or exceeded their numerical accession goals for fiscal year-to-date 2011 through July.

o Army National Guard – 41,704 accessions, with a goal of 43,659; 96 percent

o Army Reserve – 25,206 accessions, with a goal of 23,134; 109 percent

o Navy Reserve – 7,055 accessions, with a goal of 7,055; 100 percent

o Marine Corps Reserve – 8,736 accessions, with a goal of 8,313; 105 percent

o Air National Guard – 5,730 accessions, with a goal of 5,724; 100 percent

o Air Force Reserve – 7,644 accessions, with a goal of 7,632; 100 percent

• Attrition.
All reserve components are on target to achieve their fiscal year attrition goals.
