Scott's View: Thanksgiving Thoughts of Gratitude for our Military and Veterans
Scott Higgins, WeSalute Co-founder & Co-CEO
With Thanksgiving here, and Veterans Day 2014 in our rearview mirror, it's time to reflect on what we have in this great nation.
Recently, catching a breather from a whirlwind of Veterans Day-related activities, I got a note from a fellow Vietnam Veteran, Major General Arnold Fields USMC (RET), with The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration. He reported that the Commemoration organization now has 7,000 Commemorative partners, each of whom agrees to conduct events commemorating the Vietnam War:
"I am very pleased to know that Veterans Advantage is one of our Vietnam War Commemoration's Commemorative partners," he wrote. "Thank you for supporting the commemoration and for all that you do on behalf of our Veterans."
As a partner, Veterans Advantage proudly displayed The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration Flag on the front of our Veterans Advantage Veterans Day Float in New York City's 2014 America's Parade, that moved up 5th Avenue past 600,000+ parade spectators, and was televised nationally by FOX on November 11th.
We are also proud to note that our Veterans Advantage Advisory Board Member former Army Captain Paul "Bud" Bucha, a Medal of Honor Recipient, serves on the Commemorative Committee, headed by Army Lt. General Claude, "Mick", Kicklighter.
Major General Arnold Fields retired from the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) in January, 2004 after more than 34 years of active military service. At the time of his retirement, he was serving as the Deputy Commander of USMC Forces in Europe, supporting U.S. national security interests in Europe and Africa.
General Fields is also a great American, doing important work to commemorate The Vietnam War while recognizing and honoring those who served and sacrificed in it and their families. We are grateful for his tireless work and dedication to our nation.
Happy Thanksgiving from Veterans Advantage.
