Veterans Advantage supports pro-veteran legislation like the No Hero Left Untreated Act and, most recently, Public Act 17-137, which became effective in Connecticut on October 1, 2017.

The No Hero Left Untreated Act, bipartisan legislation introduced by U.S. Senators Gary Peters (D-MI) and David Perdue (R-GA), will create a pilot program for innovative medical care for veterans to help treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI) and the burgeoning ‘silent injuries’ of modern warfare. Veterans Advantage is actively and publicly supporting this legislation and encourages members like you to get involved in local and national politics to support our veterans.

Public Act 17-137 is an act protecting the personal information of members of the Armed Forces and Military Veterans. The bill, proposed by Veterans Advantage Board of Advisors member Cpt. Paul Bucha, Vietnam Veteran and Medal of Honor recipient, along with Veterans Advantage, enforces that any organization or entity that collects or requires proof of service with military identification documents will now need to ‘safeguard the data, computer files and documents containing the information from misuse by third parties. This includes selective service or military identification numbers, military discharge documents, or copies of military identity cards. Organizations that collect this information will be required to destroy, erase or make unreadable such data, computer files and documents prior to disposal,’ as outlined in the bill. The bill is also backed by a $500 penalty per violation.

Veterans Advantage hopes that this privacy legislation will prove as an example for the rest of the Nation and that it will be widely adopted in years to come.

Charitable Activities

Veterans Advantage, as a Public Benefit Corporation, has, to date, given over 500,000 VetRewards memberships to active duty military, retired military, veterans, and their family members at no charge to show our appreciation and respect for the sacrifices of our service members.

We do this through many gifting programs, supported by corporate donors and Veterans Advantage members like you who Give the Gift of VetRewards! We match every gift given, allowing our members to have more of an impact by effectively doubling their gift -- helping us achieve our mission of greater respect, recognition, and rewards for the Greater Military Community.

Here are the deserving groups that will receive VetRewards when you contribute a gift:

Military & Veterans Life Cover Story: 57 Years Later, Reflections on the Olympics and Post-War Tokyo The global pandemic that reshaped how we function and interact as humans left no corner of the world untouched. Every aspect of our lives changed on the personal level, but the cancellation or disruption of seemingly invincible cultural touchstones like the Olympics served as stunning reminders of the uncertain times we all endured. An event that intertwines and invigorates the world once every four years is needed now more than ever after a period of such isolating international disconnect and despair. After countless fits and starts threatened to condemn the 2020 Tokyo Olympics as collateral damage of the pandemic, we will soon get to enjoy what the Japanese refer to as the “Recovery Games” After all, Japan won the right to host the Olympics on July 16, 2011 just months after 18,000 Japanese lost their lives during the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.
