Military & Veterans News Vet News: Two VA Executives Honored with ‘Service to America’ Medals WASHINGTON – A Vietnam Veteran whose career has focused on helping war Veterans at Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) community Vet Centers around the country and a VA chief financial officer who led the agency to streamline operations and reduce costs are among nine federal officials being honored with Service to America Medals. For the 10th year, the non-profit Partnership for Public Service has named outstanding public servants who are making high-impact contributions.

Hanssen, as a spy for the Russians and the revelation that the agency failed to turn over investigation-related documents to the lawyers for Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh.
Veterans Advantage logo Military & Veterans News Vet News: Chairman Murray and Senator Durbin Call on VA to Provide Answers about Privacy, Safety and Security of Homeless Female Veterans (Washington, D.C.) – Today, Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman Patty Murray and Illinois Senator Dick Durbin sent a joint letter to Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Eric Shinseki expressing their concern about the placement of homeless female veterans in unsecure housing in Chicago, which jeopardized their safety.  Chairman Murray and Senator Durbin’s letter asks VA for assurances that homeless female veterans across the country who are being cared for by the Department are housed in appropriate, safe and secure conditions.
