Scott’s View: Our Veterans Day Wishes to You

Scott Higins

Thanks to Lin Higgins who created it 8 years ago, the “Heroes Meet Heroes” live event at the New York Athletic Club  in New York City every November, has become a time to honor the spirit of service of our nation’s veterans & our U.S. Olympians. Sponsored by Northrop Grumman for several years and joined this year by Caliber Home Loans, 1-800-Flowers and FourBlock, our 501C3 partner, that spirit is alive today more than ever.

Military veterans and America’s athletes have always shared and been driven by common values: the pursuit of excellence, determination, discipline, and placing service above self in representing our country. In response to COVID, Heroes is a free streaming event this year, so all our members can share in the celebration. Please register and attend this event tomorrow at 5 pm Eastern Time.

Finally, we know this year has been challenging for all of us, but nothing will get in the way of recognizing and celebrating your service this Veterans Day 2020! This year marks the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II, the 70th Anniversary of the start of the Korean War and the 30th Anniversary of Operation Desert Shield. Our nation stands on your shoulders, and we are grateful for all you have done!

We wish you health, safety and a wonderful Veterans Day.

Cover Story: How & Why WeSalute Was Founded 25 Years Ago

WeSalute founders Scott and Lin Higgins have spent a lifetime in the military community, from Scott’s combat service in Vietnam and the service of Lin’s father in WWII, to serving families and veterans through the creation of memorials and parades as part of charitable and government initiatives. It was this lifetime of service that led them to establish WeSalute, originally founded as Veterans Advantage, and to continue giving back.
