Vet News: National Guard (In Federal Status) and Reserve Activated as of March 10, 2015

The Navy Reserve announced an increase activated National Guard members and reservists this week, while the Army National Guard, Army Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Air National Guard, Air Force Reserve and Coast Guard Reserve announced a decrease of activated National Guard members and reservists. The net collective result is a decrease of 464 activated National Guard members and reservists in comparison to last week.

At any given time, services may activate some units and individuals while deactivating others, making it possible for these figures to either increase or decrease. The total number currently on active duty from the Army National Guard and Army Reserve is 14,645; Navy Reserve, 2,767; Marine Corps Reserve, 943; Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve, 5,803; and the Coast Guard Reserve, 259. This brings the total National Guard and reserve personnel who have been activated to 24,417, including both units and individual augmentees.

Cover Story: How & Why WeSalute Was Founded 25 Years Ago

WeSalute founders Scott and Lin Higgins have spent a lifetime in the military community, from Scott’s combat service in Vietnam and the service of Lin’s father in WWII, to serving families and veterans through the creation of memorials and parades as part of charitable and government initiatives. It was this lifetime of service that led them to establish WeSalute, originally founded as Veterans Advantage, and to continue giving back.
