Scott’s View: Remembering Pearl Harbor

The end of the year brings up memories for every family, but the end of the year also has special meaning for our military families. From November when we celebrate National Military month and Thanksgiving through Christmas and New Year’s Day, our holiday season is a time of gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy today.
December is also an important month for our WWII veterans, with the 78th anniversary of Pearl Harbor taking center stage. In our Cover Story this week, written by noted military historian, Brig. General (Ret.) Raymond E. Bell, Jr., PhD, we take a behind the scenes look at what was happening before that “day that will live in infamy.” Many thought the United States was well prepared militarily on Hawaii on December 7, 1941.
The USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor commemorates the events of that day. It is a constant reminder for us to always be prepared, and always be grateful for those standing guard to defend our freedoms, during wartime or peacetime.
All of us at Veterans Advantage wish you and your family a safe and peaceful holiday season.
