Veterans Advantage Joins Forces with Fortune 500 Sponsors in the 8th Annual Veterans Week NYC

Veterans Week NYC & WeSalute (Veterans Advantage)

Veterans Advantage, PBC, announced today it will be the presenting sponsor for the eighth annual Veterans Week NYC along with other Fortune 500 sponsors at the New York City Veterans Day Parade on November 11th, 2019 and with special events throughout the week.

This year's parade marks the nation’s 100th year of observing Veterans Day, formerly called Armistice Day. The 2019 Centennial NYC Veterans Day Parade, with five Grand Marshals representing each era of service from World War II to the present day, will commemorate the past 100 years of honoring America's veterans.

In addition to the parade, Veterans Advantage will recognize our veterans, active-duty military and their families by hosting free events that include exclusive giveaways for free travel, computers, and more thanks to the support of patriotic sponsors Northrop Grumman, IMAX, Avis, Budget, 7-Eleven, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Dell, 1800Flowers.com, and Harry & David.

"It's our honor to thank the military and veterans community with free events that recognize their service during Veterans Week NYC, as well as participate in New York's Veterans Day Parade, the largest of its kind in our country," said H. Scott Higgins, co-founder and co-CEO of  Veterans Advantage, as well as a co-founder of VeteransWeekNYC in 2012.

"Our Military Discounts Marketplace on VeteransAdvantage.com will also play a central role throughout the week with the many Veterans Day discounts we have created with our partners and sponsors to thank those who serve," Higgins added.

Veterans Advantage manages a platform for publishing exclusive military discounts for active duty, military veterans, guard, reserve and their families from leading travel providers and national brand name retailers as a thank you for service to our country.

"Whenever we recognize our military heroes, we send a message to future generations about our gratitude for the freedoms we enjoy today," said Paul W. Bucha, Vietnam War Veteran, recipient of the Distinguished Graduate Award from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, who serves on the Veterans Advantage Advisory Board. “I am proud that Veterans Advantage is taking the lead honoring the service of those who have defended us and their families who have sacrificed so much.”

Bucha will be parade-side to anchor the on-air television commentary for the Veterans Day Parade, broadcast locally on WABC, the flagship station of the ABC television network, a division of the Walt Disney Company. The parade event will also air nationwide on WABC branded streaming services, its website abc7ny.com, and the station's news app from Noon-3 p.m., EST. as well as worldwide on the Armed Forces Network. In addition, Bucha will serve as a guest speaker at Veterans Advantage’s Heroes Meet Heroes event on Sunday, November 10th.

Military & Veterans Life

Cover Story: How & Why WeSalute Was Founded 25 Years Ago

WeSalute founders Scott and Lin Higgins have spent a lifetime in the military community, from Scott’s combat service in Vietnam and the service of Lin’s father in WWII, to serving families and veterans through the creation of memorials and parades as part of charitable and government initiatives. It was this lifetime of service that led them to establish WeSalute, originally founded as Veterans Advantage, and to continue giving back.
