Health Net Federal Services Wins Department of Veterans Affairs Claims Repricing Contract
Wednesday December
12, 2007
SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS
WIRE)--Health Net, Inc. (NYSE:HNT - News) today
announced that Health Net Federal Services LLC,
the government operations division of Health
Net, Inc., has been re-awarded a contract by
the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to reprice
health care provider invoices in the VA’s
Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) 8.
The contract is effective from October 1, 2007
through September 30, 2008, with two additional
option years.
The
contract agreement to perform preferred pricing
services allows participating VA Medical Centers
in VISN 8 to share in the savings available through
discount agreements with Health Net for a variety
of health care services, including hospitalization,
outpatient care, ambulatory surgery, behavioral
health, ancillary and other services. Participating
VISN 8 VA Medical Centers are located in Orlando,
Tampa, Bay Pines, West Palm Beach, Miami, Lake
City and Gainesville, Fla., and San Juan, Puerto
Rico.
“Health Net is honored to partner with the
VA to lower claims costs by providing discounted
rates through our nationwide provider network,” said
Donna Hoffmeier, Health Net’s program officer,
VA Services. “The savings generated by the
VA’s Preferred Pricing Program are returned
to the participating VA Medical Centers, where
the funds can further increase veteran access to
patient care services.”
About Health Net’s
VA Programs
Health Net’s VA
Programs have a long track record of successfully
reducing health care expenditures for community-based
care provided to veterans throughout the country.
The cost savings resulting from these programs
provide funds for VA Medical Centers to deliver
more patient care services to veterans.
Now entering its tenth
fiscal year of service, Health Net’s Preferred Pricing Program provides
VA with broad access to a nationwide provider network
at discounted rates. The Diagnosis Related Group
(DRG) Review and Recovery Program identifies and
recovers claims overpayments due to billing, processing
or coding errors for the VA’s National DRG
Recovery Audit Program. Health Net’s VA Community
Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) further contribute
to cost containment by making quality health care
affordable and accessible to veterans outside the
VA’s core medical services. For more information
