Jacksonville, FL
The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) and Veterans AdvantageTM jointly announced a special Memorial Day distribution of $4,000 in gift cards donated by Veterans Advantage members for inclusion in WWP backpacks for wounded warriors.

“Since our partnership with WWP launched in 2008, we’ve looked for new ways to show we care,” said Veterans Advantage CEO Scott Higgins who founded Veterans Advantage with the help of fellow veterans in February, 2001. “This is a special way, based on the support of our members, and we are honored and excited with their response.”
The award donation has been shipped by Veterans Advantage to the WWP headquarters in Jacksonville, Fla. The gift cards were donated by Veterans Advantage members – those who serve and their families – who chose to forego some of their own Veterans Advantage benefits, so they can be enjoyed by wounded warriors. Members who participated donated the gift cards they were entitled to upon joining Veterans Advantage.
“We’re grateful for Veterans Advantage’s ongoing support, which now includes the direct support of its members,” said Al Giordano, Deputy Executive Director of Wounded Warrior Project. “From our perspective, the greater the support for Veterans Advantage, the greater the support for our warriors.”
The special gift distribution has been made in the form of Dunkin’ Donuts gift cards, in recognition of the benefit partnership between Dunkin’ Donuts and Veterans Advantage. A related scholarship donation of $2500 was also made by Veterans Advantage to WWP’s TRACK program, a state-of-the art educational program set up to integrate wounded Veterans back to civilian life.
Ongoing donations from Veterans Advantage to WWP come in the form of complimentary memberships in its flagship membership program, offering special national discounts for those who serve from leading providers including United Airlines, Amtrak, Greyhound, Dell & Apple Computer, Target.com, and many others.
Veterans Advantage selected WWP as the recipient for this latest donation after a review of its giving back activities on behalf of this member initiative. Previously, these reviews have resulted in donations to its portfolio of charitable partnerships, created since the company’s inception in 2000, including the USO, Fisher House, Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPs), Give an Hour, Operation Gratitude and Operations Care and Comfort.
