Veterans Advantage Celebrates National Train Day By Reminding All U.S. Veterans to Ride AMTRAK at a 15% Discount Every Day

Veterans Advantage Discount Program Reaches its 10th Anniversary

Washington, DC (PRWEB) May 04, 2011 -- In honor of National Train Day, May 7, Veterans AdvantageTM reminds those who are serving or have served in the US military, including Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, National Guard and Reservists, that they are eligible to receive 15% off their Amtrak travel every day of the year. This discount is available to Veterans Advantage cardholders who receive the 15% savings on the best available coach rail fare on Amtrak, as well as Acela weekend fares, with a three-day advance purchase.

"As we enter the summer travel season, we are calling on those who serve to check out Veterans Advantage's special travel offerings on Continental Airlines, Greyhound, and especially our long standing partnership with Amtrak. With Amtrak's discount of 15% off every day of the year, with no blackout dates, it is a great way to see the country you served," said Scott Higgins, founder and CEO of Veterans Advantage, the national organization to thank all who serve, and a former Army 1st Lieutenant.

Amtrak's discount fares may combine with Amtrak Guest Reward points. Upon enrollment in Veterans Advantage, those who have served in our military are awarded 1,000 point frequent traveler bonus with Amtrak Guest Rewards, as a special additional offer to thank those who have served our country.

Veterans Advantage also is also encouraging all to share their train experiences and stories by posting on the Veterans Advantage Facebook wall, at Facebook.com/VetRewards. As Amtrak celebrates its 40th Anniversary, Veterans Advantage members are honoring the nation's rail service organization with posts to show they appreciate their military and veterans discounts – which is likewise celebrating its 10th Anniversary with Veterans Advantage.

Veterans Advantage members who serve or have served our country receive a unique, personalized ID card that can be used to purchase discounted tickets at Amtrak ticket counters nationwide, on Amtrak's Web site at www.amtrak.com, or by calling Amtrak's Veterans Advantage line at 1-877-USA-RAIL.
