VETERANS, and their FAMILIES, great discounts and special
offers on major brand names.
Your own state has a Department of Veterans Affairs that offers an array of service-related benefits for Military Veterans, dependents, and survivors, which are benefits separate and distinct from the entitlements offered by the Federal government. As a member, you can check out these benefits you are entitled to with our Veterans Advantage State Benefits map navigator. These state or local benefits can be valuable, but are frequently overlooked or poorly understood by Veterans and their families. In a 2012 poll of Veterans Advantage members, nearly 85 percent said they were not aware of their state or local benefits and entitlements.
Each state’s Department of Veterans Affairs is responsible for administering the state benefits for its own Veterans and their families. However, these departments may also provide service officers or benefits counselors to assist veterans and their families in receiving their Federal entitlements from the Veterans Administration. Many local governments have an office to assist veterans in their own communities and some provide local benefits, such as property tax breaks, but these vary by locality.
