Privacy Policy

Philosophy and Privacy Policy

Veterans Advantage, Inc. respects your right to privacy. We have developed this statement to inform you of our data gathering and dissemination practices, because we seek a level of trust and confidence in our Web site that matches the integrity with which you (our customers) served our country.

You can be assured of our commitment to protecting your privacy at Veterans Advantage. We will not collect any personal information from you that you do not volunteer, and we are the sole owner of all information collected on this site. We do not sell this information.

We ask that you make it a practice of reading privacy statements on all Web sites you use, even the sites of our partners. Why? From time to time, Veterans Advantage may provide space online to our discount partners, advertisers and links to other Web sites. And you may end up visiting those sites and giving them information. Once you do that, you're on your own. Veterans Advantage is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of these Web sites, nor is Veterans Advantage responsible for the security of information users may choose to manually enter into these other sites.

1. What Information Do We Gather and How Do We Gather It?

A. IP Address: Our Web servers gather member IP addresses both to help diagnose service problems and for systems administration. IP addresses are also sometimes used to gather broad demographic data.

B. Cookies: We use a standard Internet technology called "cookies" to store and track visitor information. A cookie is a small text file that is automatically stored on your computer for future retrieval. Cookies allow us to count the number of unique visitors to the site to measure traffic patterns on our site, personalize a user experience to our site and facilitate the login for registered members.

C. Membership Application and Approvals: To process your membership, we ask you for common information we require of all members, including your name and valid E-mail address to deliver instructions on accessing Veterans Advantage membership benefits. We also require a mailing address and specific information related to the qualifying Veteran, Active Duty Service Member and National Guard & Reservist to ensure delivery of your Veterans Advantage Card and printed Benefits Directory.

D. Corporate Partner Enrollments: In order to receive benefits from our corporate partners, you may be asked to provide additional identifying information. When you choose to accept a special retail offer, we forward your contact information to the applicable retailer for fulfillment. The retailers for the offers you have chosen to receive may use the information you provided to present you with other opportunities in accordance with their own privacy policies.

E. Other Site Features: Certain other features such as "send this link to another vet" may also require us to collect personally identifiable information, such as the name and e-mail address of both the sender and the recipient.

F. We make every effort to maintain the integrity of our member community, so you must ensure your information is accurate when applying.

You are required to affirm that you have correctly portrayed you or your family member’s military service in this application and that you are entitled to these benefits. We may also request additional documentation in processing your enrollment. All personal information will be kept confidential by Veterans Advantage and not be shared with any other party.

2. How Do We Use and Disclose Your Information?

A. Traffic Analysis: To ensure what we offer matches your needs, we may provide third parties with aggregate statistics about our customers, traffic patterns, and related site information. This data reflects site usage patterns gathered during thousands of customer visits to our Web site each month but does not contain behavioral, personal, or identifying information about any individual member, unless that member has given us permission to share that information.

B. E-mail Updates: Veterans Advantage believes in giving you access to discount programs as efficiently as possible. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information about you with other companies except to provide products and services you've requested, when we have your permission, or to provide aggregate information about our program for potential and existing partners. However, these partners operating under confidentiality agreements do not have any independent right to use or share this information.

C. Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our Web site, new services, and special offers we think you will find valuable.

D. Partners, Advertisers, Subsidiaries, and Third Parties
We may enter into strategic marketing alliances with third parties, such as strategic partners and subsidiaries, who may ask you directly for personal information, including your name, address, and email, for the purpose of providing you with information about products and services that may be of interest to you. We evaluate such partners to identify products and services that serve the needs of our members well. We cannot and do not, however, make any representations about the practices and policies of these companies.

3.  How Do You Opt In or Opt Out or Deactivate Your Account?

A. You automatically sign up for free Veterans Advantage e-mail updates when you apply for a Veterans Advantage membership or register to use the Web site. You have the option to opt out of receiving these updates. This opt-out messaging will appear at the bottom of every e-mail sent to you.

B. Veterans Advantage gives you the option to remove all your information, at any time, from our database. If you don't want to receive any form of direct contact from us, whether it is e-mail, information on discounts or promotional offers, use this link http://www.veteransadvantage.com/cms/contact to cancel your account.

4. How Do You Change Your Information Profile?

  • In order to ensure that the information we maintain is accurate and up-to-date, Veterans Advantage gives members the option to change or modify any information previously provided. To do this, use this link http://www.veteransadvantage.com/cms/contact

6. How Do We Protect Children Who Visit Our Site?

We will not collect personally identifiable information from children (e.g., under the age of 13). Where appropriate, we will take reasonable measures to inform children NOT to submit such information to our site or in response to advertisements on our site.

  • If a child has managed to provide us with such information, the child's parent or legal guardian should contact us using this link http://www.veteransadvantage.com/cms/contact if (s)he would like this information deleted.

7. How Do We Ensure Security for Online Purchases and Transmission of Information?

A. We utilize encryption/security software to safeguard the confidentiality of personal information we collect. This software provides a limited degree of protection against unauthorized access or disclosure, as well as accidental loss, alteration, or destruction.

B. Like most websites, communications to, from and through the Veterans Advantage Web site are not confidential, and your communications may be read or intercepted by others. However, we are not responsible for any breach of security or for the actions of these parties.

8. Consent

A. We want you to be aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it or any portions thereof. By using Veterans Advantage, you consent to the collection and use of information by Veterans Advantage in the manner described and explained above. We may modify parts of this privacy policy from time to time; the current policy will reflect whatever changes have been made.

B. No data transmission over the Internet, unfortunately, can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while Veterans Advantage strives to protect your personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or from our online products or services, and you do so at your own risk. Our policy does not extend to anything that is inherent in the operation of the Internet, and therefore beyond our control, and is not to be applied in any manner contrary to applicable law or governmental regulation.

Exceptional Circumstances

  • Please note that if Veterans Advantage, Inc. and any lines of its business are sold or disposed of as a going concern, whether by merger, sale of assets or otherwise, the relevant customer database of veteransadvantage.com could, in whole or in part, be sold as part of that transaction. We also may have to release personally identifying information when it is necessary to comply with judicial or other government subpoenas, warrants or orders.
