In April, 58-year-old John H. Dasburg, chief executive of Northwest Airlines who helped steer the air carrier from near-insolvency, will become the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and President of Burger King.
Before Mr. Dasburg came to Northwest Airlines in 1990, he had been president of Marriott’s Lodging Group and executive vice president of the Marriott Corporation. Prior to his 10-year stay with Marriott, he was a partner with KPMG Peat Marwick, the international CPA firm.
Mr.
Dasburg, who has a bachelor’s degree in engineering,
a master’s in business administration, and a law
degree, all from the University of Florida, served
three years in the Navy, with one year in the
Vietnam theatre of operations. Active in civic
affairs, he serves as a director of several universities
and corporations. He is a member of the board
of The St. Paul Companies, Promus Hotel Corporation,
the Mayo Foundation, Northwest Airlines, and the
Supervisory Board of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.
In 1994, Mr. Dasburg was named airline industry
"Man of the Year" by Travel Agent
magazine.
