Edward L. Bishop III: Kestrel Technologies

Kestrel Technologies develops and distributes sophisticated front-office software for securities dealers, brokers, and investment managers. Edward L. Bishop III, Kestrel’s Founder, Chairman, and President, spent 22 years as a fighter pilot for the Navy and the Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of colonel. While on active duty, he was twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, as well as numerous other decorations for service in the Vietnam War.

Mr. Bishop had been director of fixed-income arbitrage trading for Drexel Burnham Lambert. As one of Drexel’s principal proprietary traders, he recognized the need for real-time, position, and risk management systems. He left the trading business to establish a company dedicated to the development of modern, front-office trading technology, becoming a principal of Berkeley Investment Technologies before founding Kestrel.

Mr. Bishop earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington and Lee University, where he majored in mechanical engineering and economics. He received his MBA in corporate finance from the Wharton Graduate Division of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a trustee of Washington and Lee, and is a member of several corporate boards and investment trusts.

Dance about Vietnam War Gets Washington Post Coverage

I was pleased to see the Washington Post reviewed Into Sunlight, the dance based on the book by David Maraniss, the Pulitzer-prize winning journalist. It is a special look at a series of events surrounding the Vietnam War, and we have been honored to sponsor this very important work of art, and host Veterans Advantage Members to see the production in New York City and Washington DC.
