Earlier today we announced on our Veterans Advantage Facebook page a special limited time offer for Veterans Advantage members to save 15% on sailings in Hawaii on Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL). These sailings are on the new patriotic ship, “Pride of America.”

These sailings are available throughout 2011, but you need to place your booking before June 30, 2011 to qualify for the discount. You also need to remember your Veterans Advantage card, which is required on the day of sailing. For members ready to make their booking, log into Members Only, and click on Norwegian Cruise Line for instructions.

Veterans Advantage travelers are big fans of our train, plane and bus discounts, and our hotel offerings are substantial, too. For instance, our partnership with Choice Hotels International offers a variety of high quality properties at value prices – and I can speak from first-hand experience!

For instance, over the last holiday weekend, we saved 20% on a double room in Maine to be with our kids. The original price was $222.06 per night for 2 nights for this room. We paid 20% less or $177.65 (before taxes) for each night, a savings of $44.41 a night or $88.81 for the 2 nights. Not bad!

Other properties represented in our Veterans Advantage Choice Hotels discount partnership include Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality Inn, Sleep Inn, Clarion, Cambria Suites, MainStay Suites, Suburban, Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn.

I’m pleased to announce a benefit upgrade, a special program for Veterans Advantage members, in the hotly competitive car rental industry. After meeting with executives of Dollar Rent a Car and Thrifty Car Rental at my offices late last month, two great guys, they agreed to enhance their partnership with us.

In addition to our discount relationship, each program now includes downloadable coupons (limit one per rental) for a free upgrade day and free GPS system day. This already is combined with the waivers on additional drivers and underage drivers included with our offer for Dollar, further bolstering the unique quality of the car rental benefit for Veterans Advantage with a range of discounted travel options.

Hat’s off to the Patriot News of Harrisburg, PA, for reminding those who served that they qualify for Amtrak discounts, most notably to the New York City area during the very popular and memorable holiday season. Just sign up for the Veterans Advantage card today.

On that subject, its also worth a reminder that Veterans Advantage members also qualify for special discounts on the Northeast Shuttle (Washington, DC – New York – Boston) run by Delta Airlines and U.S. Airways.

Finally, let’s not forget one of our best discount partners — Continental Airlines — has a major hub in the New York City area.
