After four thrilling tournaments already this season, we are pleased to announce two new PGA TOUR and Champions Tour tournaments with discounts for Veterans Advantage members in 2012. This time we are featuring two key season-end championship events, courtesy of the PGA TOUR’s Birdies for the Brave program.

• PGA TOUR: The TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola, September 19-23, Atlanta, Georgia. Earlier this month, we ran a sample booking and found savings for a single Saturday ticket of $37.01.

• Champions Tour: Charles Schwab Cup Championship, October 31 – November 4, Scottsdale, Arizona. We also ran a sample savings here earlier this month and found a single “any day” ticket saves you $15.45.

Veterans Advantage Members will be able to log in anytime before the tournament to review ticket prices and then purchase and download their tickets, in Members Only. Then, remember to bring your active VetRewards Card with your ticket, and present both at the tournament. Hope to see you there!

I am pleased to announce that in our home State of Connecticut, we have the support of Governor Dannel P. Malloy in a new state-wide partnership with the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. The program offers a special membership initiative that will support an educational scholarship program for Connecticut military veterans and their families. We thank Dr. Linda Schwartz, the State Commissioner of Veterans Affairs, for all her help and support in the launch of this important initiative. Connecticut residents that are eligible for Veterans Advantage can participate by enrolling from the CT Department of Veterans Affairs website and receive 25% off their enrollment fee by clicking here.

If you are like me, you may have at least one WWII Veteran in your family tree, and because of that, days like today ring special to you. It was 68 years ago today, June 6, 1944, that the D-Day invasion of Allied Forces began on what was then Nazi-occupied Europe.

This is a subject near and dear to us, as Lin and I attended a special D-Day commemoration in France three years ago. So many Americans and other Allied Forces died, performing the ultimate sacrifice that helped liberate millions to live in freedom after the war.

We have already received reports of automobile sales from our latest benefit partnership – Ford and Lincoln Cars & Trucks – but this latest report was particularly pleasing to receive, as it just came from one of our senior contacts at the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP)…and Ford’s latest new customer.

Stopping by WWP’s headquarters in Jacksonville in early May, Lin and I met with Dan McCarthy, an advisor for special projects at WWP, and a retired Navy Veteran. Together, we later checked out THE PLAYERS, one of our PGA TOUR and CHAMPIONS TOUR tournaments covered by discounted tickets for Veterans Advantage members.

We got to talking about the current benefits package for Veterans Advantage members, which include WWP Alumni, and our discussion moved to news of our Ford launch. Flash forward a couple of weeks later, when I received an email from Dan. “I bought a new Ford Edge yesterday.  Got a great price using Veterans Advantage,” he told me.  “It truly gave me an advantage…I started with invoice price and then they added my rebates.”

What’s more, we really appreciated the fact that Dan would not have switched to Ford had we not had a benefit on Ford in the Veterans Advantage program. With only a month passed since we launched this partnership, we expect more stories similar to Dan’s.
