Two New Medal of Honor (MOH) Recipients, Including the First Living Recipient Since Vietnam

If you were not watching the wires late last week, President Obama announced two new Medal of Honor (MOH) awards, including one to the first living recipient from either Iraq or Afghanistan. And he’s also the first living recipient since Vietnam.
The living recipient, Army Airborne’s own Staff Sergeant Salvatore Giunta was honored with the Medal of Honor for service in Afghanistan. And in the same week, President Obama also announced a posthumous Medal of Honor for fellow Afghanistan Veteran, Staff Sergeant Robert J. Miller, also of the U.S. Army.
Personally, it is about time we were able to identify a living MOH Veteran. There are countless heroes from this generation, and unfortunately there will be more. Thank you Sergeants Giunta and Miller for your service and sacrifice. We are deeply grateful.
