Independence Day Reminder: Freedom is Not Free

With the 4th of July holiday weekend, let us take time to recognize all who serve our nation. Freedom is not free, and those who defend it deserve our heartfelt thanks and gratitude.

In the 11th hour, Congress passed a measure last week designating June 27th National PTSD awareness day. Announced only three days before the commemoration, it reflects the fact that hundreds of thousands of our servicemembers are returning from harm’s way with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or Traumatic Brain injury (TBI). This designation will help draw attention and hopefully inspire action to address PTSD at the national and local level.

Be sure to honor those who serve this weekend. Saying thank you to someone who serves is a start.
